eFUME® (16.7% ethyl formate, 3.3% CO₂) is a rapid-action fumigant designed for the protection of food products. With its natural, non-residual formula, eFUME® offers a safe and effective solution for treating post-harvest produce, packaged and stored foods, as well as food processing equipment.

Engineered for versatility, eFUME® can be applied directly inside silos, containers, bunkers, warehouses, and other food storage or processing facilities. Its active ingredient, ethyl formate, is a naturally occurring compound that leaves no residues and has zero ozone depletion potential - ensuring both food safety and environmental responsibility.However, these processes present various environmental and health challenges. Methyl bromide, for instance, has been banned in many countries due to its high ozone depleting potential.

The eFUME® Mix-Onsite System generates eFUME® at the treatment site by combining eFUME® Active (ethyl formate) with carbon dioxide immediately before fumigation. Rather than relying on pre-mixed gas cylinders, the system uses separate supplies of ethyl formate and carbon dioxide, providing greater flexibility and scalability for fumigation operations.

During operation, carbon dioxide is drawn from a standard CO₂ supply and passed through the Mix-Onsite System, where a controlled quantity of eFUME® Active is introduced. The system continuously monitors and regulates the flow of both components to ensure the correct mixing ratio is achieved. The resulting eFUME® blend is then delivered directly into the treatment enclosure through the fumigation distribution system.

By generating the fumigant mixture on demand, the Mix-Onsite System allows operators to produce only the quantity of eFUME® required for each treatment. This approach reduces the need for pre-mixed gas inventory, simplifies logistics, and enables the system to be readily scaled to suit a wide range of fumigation applications, from small treatment chambers through to large commercial facilities and quarantine operations.
