Kade McConville joins Milling and Grain as monthly columnist

We’re delighted to share that our Executive Director, Kade McConville, has joined the Milling and Grain magazine as a regular monthly columnist. With a career rooted in engineering and a passion for sustainability and innovation in agricultural chemical solutions, Kade brings a fresh and bold voice to one of the industry’s most respected publications.

In his debut column, featured in the March 2025 edition, McConville sets the stage for what readers can expect in the months ahead. His first piece explores the often-overlooked but critical role of fumigation in securing the global food supply chain. He reflects on the urgent need for sustainable treatment options to protect commodities – especially as up to 40% of food grown globally is lost due to pests and diseases, according to the UN.

McConville sheds light on how fumigation, frequently misunderstood as a “dirty” or outdated practice, is in fact a cornerstone of food security – particularly in grain handling and storage. He also addresses the environmental impact of traditional fumigants and the importance of transitioning to solutions that reduce emissions and enhance supply chain transparency.

Drawing from over 15 years in the industry and his leadership at INTRESO Group, McConville emphasises the importance of innovating towards sustainable, effective, and regulation-compliant treatments. His insights are timely and critical as the sector faces rising pressure to move away from environmentally harmful chemicals.

You can read the full column in the March 2025 issue of Milling and Grain, and stay tuned each month as Kade continues to share updates on industry developments, trends, and emerging technologies.
